A message from Town Supervisor Robert Gallagher

Robert Gallagher

To All Residents and Guests of Rosendale,

As the Town of Rosendale celebrates its 4th consecutive year of our famous Street Festival, I am pleased at the many dedicated hours the volunteers put in to make this event happen.

This great event is still an economic boost for this Town, as it exposes how a small community works together, embraces this event, and looks at this attraction as a way to showcase the Town.

The Town of Rosendale has become a destination place and the Street Festival, along with many other festivals in Town, has put us there.

With that said, the Town of Rosendale will be a very interesting place to live and visit within the next few years. We have several new businesses that have and will be locating here, with services that our residents will enjoy.

So, please enjoy our annual Street Festival, and everything else our Town has to offer while joining myself and the entire Town Board in thanking the many volunteers that bring this event to you.

Bob Gallagher
Supervisor
Town of Rosendale

Thanks from Jack Walsh

Jack Walsh Welcome to our street festival. The planning and the work for this monster starts in September. Our street festival committee is Billy and Linda Liggan, Ann Citrone, Sue Contstable, and Jill LaFera-Popel, with Charlie Knicley, Charlie Errante and Steve Terpening heading up the music.

I would like to talk about our unsung heroes; the people who help out at the street festival but receive no credit and are not part of the committee. They put in long hours during the two days and are happy to be a part of this great community event. The first person I see is Chris "the stick" Prosekoff. He's the only other person up at 5 am. He is our early morning set up man. Harry Krom is responsible for helping Charlie make all our portable stages and is there for any of us when things need to get done. He was one of the last people Sunday night with me, Charlie, and Billy, making sure the town was in good shape for Monday morning.

Dee McClusky has a huge job; she organizes all the greeters that welcome the public to the fest. Uval is the one running up and down Main Street at the end of the fest, cleaning the sidewalks with his leaf blower before the street sweepers arrive. He and his wife Lisa own the Big Cheese. Stop in and say "Hello." Phil Goetschius is also one of our go-to guys, always ready to tackle any job needed. Say hello to him and his wife at The Cutting Edge. Debra Rudy is also one of our early risers helping Sue Constable direct all the venders in the morning.

The sky Banner was created by Steve Ladin. It hangs off The Walkill Valley Railroad Trestle. John Rahl has graciously let us use the treastle for the last four years.

Tony Sisilli is one of our newest core people. He is our liaison for the fire department and security. He brings a lot to the table. Tony's brother Rich, Nick Ryder, and Frank Klepis Jr. are both volunteer firemen working at Tony's side.

Robert Forrest and Parvinokht Ghani own the old school house on Snyder Avenue, where the Creek Side Stage is. We thank them for letting the people sit on their lawn to enjoy the music.

Bob Gallagher, our Town Supervisor, organizes the many people who volunteer to work the festival beer wagons.

We have the best Post Office around. Nora Collins is our Postmaster, with help from Kathleen Styles and Judy Clark. These ladies give us 100% support. We are lucky to have them.

Carla Rozman and Woody Pirtle came up with our great new poster design. They worked with our webmaster Mark Bernard, and helper Breanna Liggan, to create this year's Program Guide. I just can not say enough about this team and the hard work that goes into our terrific program.

Duke Dulka and Jack Dawson are two guys you wouldn't know don't hail from Rosendale. They help by donating two days of their time before the festival, making sure everything is ready, and by filling in the gaps during the party.

Gayle Knicely had the job of organizing the musicians in the parking lot; this was a big job, making sure everyone got a ride and reached the correct destination. Gayle had help by folks who love her enough to keep her from doing that job alone all day.

Thanks to my brother Tito for the T-shirt design and signs. Thanks to Missy Harjes, Mary Alice Klepis, and MaryAnn Tapley for the special job you three ladies do.

Beer tenders, music drivers, hospitality people and greeters. I know who you are. Thank you for not saying "no," when it was time to donate your time. If there are any people I missed, I am sorry. Just know that you are appreciated.

A special thanks to our Police Department, our Fire Department, and to Carl Hornbeck and the Highway Department.

I would also like to thank my local IBEW 363 electrical worker's union for participating in this event. The local does its part for the community by getting the apprentices donate their hours toward community events like this one.

Last but not least, I'd like to thank my wife Jeanne, and my two sons, Brandon and Travis.

Thank You Rosendale. I am proud to be a part of it.

Jack

We would like to offer the gratitude of the community and entire Hudson Valley to the entertainers performing at the festival this year. We have an incredible, impressive list that includes local singer songwriters as well as nationally known musicians. They come from as far away as NYC, Albany, CT, MA, NJ, Nashville, Denmark, (yes I said Denmark) and all of the local communities. We have Folk music, Rock music, hard Rock music, Alternative Rock music, Progressive Rock music, quiet Rock music, loud Rock music, R&B music, Country and Western music, Swing music, Jazz music, Dixieland music, Latin music, Latin Jazz music, vocal music, instrumental music, and... Oh, yes... did we mention music? That's 2 days, 5 stages, 80 bands... Truly amazing.

Our heartfelt thanks goes out to all the performers who are donating their time to take part in what has to be one of the largest free music festivals in the North East. We wanted everyone to know that what makes all of this possible is that the performers are all donating their performances. We don't solicit any performers, and indeed there are many wonderful bands each year we cannot get into the schedule.

So support the musicians who are performing and when you find music you like, buy a CD or T-shirt. And then go see these artists when they are performing in the area live. Some of the groups from the festival will be performing in local venues during the evenings, so check to see if your favorite group is playing where you might kick back with a nice meal and a cocktail to unwind.

Those of us on the music committee would like to thank the community and the performers for making such an incredible event possible.

Steve,
